Guess the Episode

1. A scene from the My Hero Academia anime is shown. Work out which episode (1 to 171) it comes from.

2. Type an episode number. Every miss tells you to go higher or lower, and says whether you are close.

3. The fewer guesses you need, the more points, up to 1,000. The arc and season are revealed when the round ends.

4. Easy, Medium and Hard each have their own scene, number of guesses and leaderboard.

A new scene every day.

Guess the Episode is a daily screenshot game for My Hero Academia fans. Every day it shows one frame from the anime and asks a single question: which episode is this from? The answer is an episode number from 1 to 171, counted straight through all eight seasons.

The numbering is absolute. Season 1 is episodes 1 to 13, Season 2 is 14 to 38, Season 3 is 39 to 63, Season 4 is 64 to 88, Season 5 is 89 to 113, Season 6 is 114 to 138, Season 7 is 139 to 159 and the final Season 8 is 160 to 171, so you never have to think about season numbers while you guess. The season is revealed once the round is over.

How to play Guess the Episode

Look at the frame and type an episode number. Easy gives you four guesses; Medium and Hard give you three. Every miss tells you whether the real episode is higher or lower, and whether you are close.

Solving it on the first guess is worth 1,000 points, and each extra guess costs a share of that. Finding it also pays coins and XP; a day you do not solve it still counts as played.

Easy, Medium and Hard are three separate daily runs with their own frames and their own leaderboards. Easy shows the big, iconic moments and calls a guess close within one episode; Medium is wider, calling a guess close within three; Hard shows quieter scenes and calls a guess close within one.

Tips for a higher score

Start from the look of the frame. The animation changed a lot over the years, so the early seasons look softer and the later ones sharper, and costumes help too: U.A. uniforms, the gym uniforms of the Sports Festival, the new hero costumes after the training camp and the battered ones of the Final War each fix the frame to a stretch of episodes.

Use the story. Who is alive, who has which scars, who stands on which side and what the weather and the city look like all place the frame, and the higher or lower hint then narrows it down.

Guess the middle of what you think the range is. Because every miss says which side the answer is on, a middle guess halves your options even when the picture alone cannot give you the exact episode.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are the episodes numbered?

One absolute count from 1 to 171: Season 1 is 1 to 13, Season 2 is 14 to 38, Season 3 is 39 to 63, Season 4 is 64 to 88, Season 5 is 89 to 113, Season 6 is 114 to 138, Season 7 is 139 to 159 and Season 8 is 160 to 171. Recap episodes are not used.

Does everyone get the same frame?

Yes. Each difficulty has one frame a day, the same for every signed-in player, and it changes at 00:00 UTC. Guests play from a smaller separate set of frames.

Are there spoilers?

The frames come from all eight seasons, so a frame can show a late-story moment. The game never names an event, only the episode number, arc and season once the round is over.

Do I need an account?

No. You can play as a guest; logging in puts you on the daily leaderboard and pays coins and XP.
